A TEENAGER has been airlifted to hospital after being stabbed in Southend.

Reports have stated that at least six police cars and ambulances are attending an incident in Trinity Road this afternoon.

Passers by stated seeing a number of armed officers in undercover vehicles, with an air ambulance also circling above the road.

Traffic is heavy on the road.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "We were called shortly before 12.50pm with reports that a man had been stabbed on South Avenue, Southend.

"Officers and paramedics arrived and an18-year-old man has been taken to hospital by air ambulance.

"The extent of his injuries are yet to be determined."

A spokesman for the ambulance service said: "We were called at 12.52pm with reports of a person with stab wounds in Trinity Road, Southend.

"We sent an ambulance, ambulance officer and Essex and Herts Air Ambulance.

"An 18-year-old male was taken to hospital by air ambulance in a serious condition."
