A DRIVER failed to stop after crashing into a young child in Pitsea.

Police are looking to trace the vehicle involved in the crash, which happened on High Road at 4.10pm yesterday near Bargain Booze.

The boy did not suffer serious injuries, but the driver of the car involved failed to stop at the scene, continuing to drive towards Pitsea.

A police spokesman said: "We are looking to trace the vehicle, believed to be either a small silver or metallic gold Mercedes with a 66 numberplate.

"Anyone with information, dash cam footage, or CCTV which may have captured the collision, is asked to call Basildon’s Local Policing Team on 101 quoting the incident number 760 of November 20.
