OXFORD United boss Karl Robinson felt Southend United showed bravery during their 4-0 defeat to his side.
The U’s surged into the play-off places with their first victory at Roots Hall since 2003.
But Robinson could tell the Shrimpers are looking to implement a new style of play.
“The opposition have a way of playing and they’re trying to create an identity which wasn’t here before,” said Robinson.
“They’re trying to play their way out and they’re in transition with that.
“It’s difficult but they showed bravery.”
Oxford’s victory saw them make it 15 matches unbeaten in all competitions and also led to them moving back into the play-off positions.
And Robinson was thrilled to grab another victory.
“The record carries on, we got four goals on the goal difference and we look forward to the next game now,” said Robinson, whose side have not been beaten since early September.
“It’s important to tick this off because we haven’t had a League game for a while and we don’t have one for a while now as well so it’s a very important three points for us.
“We worked on things all week and got the rewards for that.
“When you’re on a run like this it’s a great place to be.
“But we can concentrate on other things for a little bit now before coming back to the League.
“We’re in a good place which is pleasing but we have to keep this going.”
Oxford are currently sixth in the League One standings and have now scored 37 goals in their 17 outings so far this season.
