THE swimming pool at Basildon's Sporting Village will be closed for two weeks due to planned maintenance.
The closure, from today, January 3, will affect the main pool only, with the teaching pool remaining open.
The main pool, one half of the 50 metre pool, will reopen again on Saturday 18 January 2020.
Shaun Beagle, contract manager at Everyone Active, apologised for the closure. He said: "We can confirm that the main pool at Basildon Sporting Village will be closed from today and will reopen on Saturday 18 January, due to planned maintenance works on the movable pool floor and boom.
"Our teaching pool remains open and all our users including clubs were notified of the closures well in advance and directed to use facilities at Wickford Swim & Fitness Centre throughout this period.
“We’d like to apologise for any inconvenience caused whilst these works take place but it is crucial that these works take place to ensure the continued smooth running of the main pool.”
