SOUTHEND United manager Sol Campbell is staying positive in his pursuit of new signings.

Campbell is keen to add to his squad during the January transfer window as Blues bid to get back to winning ways.

And he remains hopeful of bringing in players before the end of the month.

“We have to be positive that we will get some signings over the line and we’re working hard on it,” said Campbell.

“It’s not that easy but we’re trying and we have the whole month to do it so we will keep on going.

“It’s always difficult in January to acquire players because not many people want to release their players at this time.

“It’s not like it is at the end of the season when it’s easier to get players in.

“But we are trying and we will see if we can do some business by the end of the month.”

Blues have yet to make a signing since the window re-opened at the start of January and have seen loanees Ethan Hamilton and Layton Ndukwu both return to their parent clubs.

But Campbell will continue to focus on the players he already has at the club.

“We’ve got to believe in the squad we’ve got and keep on working hard,” said Campbell.

“If any additions come our way and we can get them over the line then fantastic.

“But I’ve got to concentrate on who we have here now and we have to be on it.

“The mentality is slowly changing and I feel like the guys are battle ready.

“I don’t think they were like that before.

“I’m glad we’ve turned a corner and we’ve got some good results but we have to keep going.”
