SOL Campbell insists Southend United are doing all they can to add to their squad.

The Shrimpers have yet to add to their squad during the January transfer window.

But Campbell says it is not for the want of trying.

“We’re really trying to get some bodies in,” said Campbell.

“It’s always difficult but we’re really trying.

“January is always difficult.

“We’re trying to recruit and we’re trying to make it happen.

“Negotiations aren’t easy but players have been identified that we’re trying to bring in.

“January is a tight month.

“Some people don’t want to go and some people want too much money to go so it’s not easy.

“In the summer it’s more relaxed and people are out of contract.

“You have longer to do your business but in January everything in trying to squeeze everything in and also play games.

“But we’re trying to get deals over the line and Ron (Martin) is working really hard.”
