Police cordon near pub after reports of serious incident
A police cordon is in place near a popular pub after reports of a serious incident.
Shocked residents spotted the cordon and officers outside the Jolly Friar Pub off Whitmore Way in Basildon at about 10am today.

A pub spokesman said it had nothing to do with the business.
There is a police presence at the scene and a cordon has been set up both in front and behind the venue.
Essex Police has been contacted for comment.
