An air ambulance has landed on a Basildon cricket club pitch.

Witnesses reported seeing the air ambulance land just after 1pm this afternoon on the Basildon and Pitsea Cricket Club field, on Timberlog Close.

Police have now revealed a 13-year-old was stabbed in the in the Southwark Path area at 12.50pm today.

Police attended and found the boy with a stab wound to his stomach.
He has been taken to hospital in London for treatment.

A 47-year-old from Basildon, who wished to remain anonymous, said: "We're not allowed to go outside, but from my window I could see quite a lot of commotion going on on the field next to The Basildon Lower Academy.

"There are three police cars here and an air ambulance landed on the pitch between 1pm to 1.15pm.

"I just hope nobody is seriously hurt."

The Essex and Herts air ambulance service have been contacted for comment.
