A BASILDON engineering company is making hundreds of protective visors to help NHS workers.
Leonardo, based in Christopher Martin Road, is using the company’s production facilities to create the visors.
Engineers wanted to find a way to rapidly create the protective equipment they need.
Within just a few days, the engineers established a common design to maximise the output of the company’s 3D printers.
They have set a daily target output of 40 from the Basildon team per week with 700 across the country and hope to speed up production in the coming days.
Matt Ellis, leader of the Basildon team, said: “It has been really good to be able to participate in this effort. After speaking to the people receiving the PPE, I feel we are definitely making a difference through our contribution.”
