THE frustration of lockdown has led to another spike in some quite pernicious and nasty round-robin emails, fired to those rightly annoyed at early morning or very late night flights.

It’s in the “lot” of a councillor to get these round-robin emails, top and tailed by any resident who feels inclined to send them.

However, the recent ones are organised for political purposes and instead of the airport talking comprehensively to all councillors they have met a few, selectively put together by yet more partisan councillors.

The shocking arrogance of the airport management leaves much to be desired with the crafty cargo element slipped in well before Covid-19 showed its ugly face and has now made matters worse in community relations.

The lovely email declares that: “If you do not reply I will assume you are in support of the Stobart Group actions, you are content to bring misery to your community, happy to poison the very air we, and future generations breathe, and in favour of climate breakdown”.

I affirm my support for employment at the airport and that once the airline industry recovers, a new look is taken at the Section 106 Agreement with

Southend Council and Rochford as to the timing of night flights and that of cargo flights and that the MPs are fully involved.

Equally I reject the absurd charge of bringing misery to any community locally or otherwise or that I favour climate breakdown.
