KIND-HEARTED restaurant owners delivered 50 freshly cooked meals to at Colchester Hospital - and they're planning to cook many more for NHS staff.
Norman Chan and Suman Dahal, owners of Tokyo Sizzle, in Osbourne Street, have signed up to the Meals for the NHS scheme.
Using public donations, businesses are paid to deliver meals to staff the hospitals and care homes across the country.
On Saturday Tokyo Sizzle cooked and delivered its first batch of dinners, a mixture of chicken yaki udon noodles and vegan sushi sets.
Mr Chan, whose business opened in October, said: "The Meals for the NHS is a non profit initiative which uses donations from the general public and fundraising to organise local cooked meals to hospitals around the UK.
"It also helps food businesses such as ourselves as it gives us a chance to be active and to get some business and money coming in during this unprecedented time.
"Not only this, it lifts our staff's spirits knowing we are doing something to help those on the frontlines.
"I was approached by their organiser since our menu is freshly cooked and healthy and our Japanese food would be bring something special to the hospital staff during this situation."
He added: "We have another delivery next week and I will make it different just to give them a bit of variety and for the hospital staff to look forward to."
