A man has been arrested after fighting broke out at a large lockdown-breaking gathering in High Beech last weekend.

Police were alerted to reports of a disturbance outside the King Oak pub shortly after 5pm on Saturday, May 30.

A spokesperson for Essex Police said: "We received information that a large group of people had gathered on green space and reports of people fighting.

"We attended the scene and gave words of advice to people about congregating.

"They were understanding and left the vicinity without issue or the need for enforcement action.

"We increased our patrols in the area the following day with Epping Forest Community Policing Team working alongside City of London Corporation Park Rangers and we received no other reports.

"After viewing footage circulating online, we identified a man before making an arrest yesterday."

A 27-year-old man from Takeley arrested on suspicion of affray has been released on bail until Wednesday June 27.
