A GRATEFUL resident has praised firefighters after a blaze spread to six properties on her road.

Firefighters from Basildon were called to a shed fire in the town’s Stirling Place on Monday at about 7.40pm.

On arrival crews found the fire had spread to the rear of six houses in both Stirling Place and Burlington Court.

Crews worked extremely hard to surround the fire, bringing it under control and extinguishing it by 8.35pm.

Resident Nicki Thorpe contacted Essex Fire Service via Facebook to say thank you.

She said: “A massive thank you to the crews that attended. It was an incredibly scary time as it was spreading so quickly and I’m pretty sure homes would have been lost if you guys hadn’t arrived so quickly.

“We appreciate every single one of you that helped us #getoutstayout.”

Watch Manager Howard Midwood added: “If it hadn’t been for the quick actions of our crews, the flames could have made their way inside these properties and caused far more damage.”

Following an investigation, to cause of the fire remains undetermined.
