FIFTY-ONE per cent of Southend United’s season card holders are willing to let the club keep money owed from matches that did not take place.

The Shrimpers still have five home games left to play when the season was curtailed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

But an Echosport poll – which attracted close to 1,300 votes – saw 51 per cent of fans say they did not want any money back from Blues.

Twenty nine per cent of supporters wanted money off their season card for the next campaign while 20 per cent were keen for a refund.

However, Blues chairman Ron Martin has yet to decide which option the club will take.

“Some supporters have enquired about season card refunds, having not completed the games” said Martin.

"Others have said will I get a discount on next year and some have said the club needs it too, keep it.

"That is true the club has gone without any income for three months and it looks set to be without matchday income for some months ahead.

"Over the next week or so we will review what is the best way forward.

"As always it is my wish to look after the club’s loyal supporters and although these are difficult times for us all we will do our best”
