Police officers have appealed for information after discovering a dead cat on the side of the road which had apparently been hit by a car. 

The police officers took it to a vets in Rayleigh in a bid to help find the owners of the animal.

The Castle Point and Rochford Team took Facebook to post about the sad incident.

A spokesman said: “Some sad news which we have to share. In the early hours of today, Pc Price and SPC Wright found a Cat that appeared to have been hit by a vehicle and was now dead at the side of the road by the Virgin Active Gym just past the crossing.

“The Officers took the Cat to the 24 Hour Vets at Rayleigh Weir, YourVets24.

“The Cat had no collar and was described as Black in colour with a white tummy. The Vets have stated they will scan the Cat to attempt to find its owners.”
