Revealing footage shows a driver of a Ford Focus appearing to veer towards a pedestrian during an altercation last night. 

A video shows a black car driving on a grass areas off Thorpe Bay Gardens, Southend, before seemingly veering towards a pedestrian and damaging a car. 

The footage shows several pedestrians jumping out of the way.

A 17-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and being in possession of an offensive weapon.

The teenager remains in custody.

A man aged in his late teens was found with a knife injury to his head, with witnesses earlier describing an altercation between two groups.

Officers have since recovered a Ford Fiesta in relation to the incident.

A spokesman from Essex Police, said: "We were called shortly before 9pm with reports of a disturbance at Thorpe Bay Gardens involving a large group of teenagers.

"Shortly before 10.30pm, we were made aware of a video circulating on social media, which appeared to show a dark coloured Ford Fiesta being deliberately driven at a white Ford Fiesta in the same area.

"The video then shows the occupants of the dark coloured Fiesta, get out and cause further damage to the white car.

"Our enquires continue.

"Anyone who witnessed the incident or has CCTV, mobile phone or dashcam footage are asked to contact Southend CID through our website, quoting incident 1298 of 23 June.

"Alternatively, please call 101 or independent charity Crimestoppers."
