A MAN has died following a crash involving two cars and a motorbike on the A130.

Police closed the road in both directions between Chelmsford and Rettendon at around 5.35pm today.

Motorists are advised to avoid the A130.

A spokesman for Essex Police said: "A man has died following a collision on the A130.

"We were called at around 5.35pm.

"We expect the road to remain closed into this evening until around 10pm.

"We want to thank those drivers who were in the tail back for their patience and understanding."

The road was left partially blocked by the incident, which involved two cars and a motorbike.

Essex Roads Policing Unit said: "We know how much this affects people caught in jams and the frustration it can cause, rest assured we are doing all we can to release trapped traffic, with officers pulled in to the area and screens being sourced.

"We do however also have to prioritise the investigation and scene."

Police warned drivers to wait to be turned around by police and that anyone putting themselves, officers or other road users at risk by "taking reckless actions through impatience" would be prosecuted.
