Flames - the car fire spread to flats
RESIDENTS were forced to flee their homes after a car fire spread to a block of flats.
Firefighters were called to Padda Court in Irvon Hill Road, Wickford, shortly before 10.30pm on Friday.
They had been told a vehicle was on fire.
But when they arrived, they found the blaze had spread to three cars and a nearby three-storey block of flats.
One of the ground floor flats was alight and filled with smoke.
A resident said nearby homes were evacuated.
Pictures show three cars have been completely destroyed.
