Work to build a new Lidl is now underway, it has been announced.

Construction to build the supermarket off Campfield Road, Shoebury, has started, with the build expected to take eight months.

The supermarket chain is working with Mitnija to build the new store, which will feature an in-store bakery, customer toilets, and a huge car park for both cars and biycyles.

40 jobs are set to be created once the store is up and running.

Lidl GB’s regional Head of Property, Andrew Hodgkinson, commented: “There’s been much anticipation for this new Lidl store and it’s great that we are now in a position to break the ground and start the build.

"We are extremely grateful for all the support that we have received so far, and would like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding whilst we enter this next phase of the development.”
