COUNCIL bosses have decided to re-open their premises in the wake of the Government’s easing of lockdown rules.
Halstead Town Council is to open both Queens Hall, where it holds meetings, and the council offices from this week.
Mayor Mick Radley said: “As the government policy on Covid-19 develops, the town council continues to review the policy for its facilities.
“The council agreed to re-open Queens Hall from July 20 for the limited and specific use of hirers who can demonstrate compliance with the government guidelines.
“The services from the council offices will also re-open on July 20 but with restricted access.
“The council agreed to fund putting in place a range of hand sanitiser facilities in those locations.”
Despite Queens Hall re-opening, the council will still hold meetings virtually until further notice due to some councillors being vulnerable to the coronavirus.
Mr Radley added: “Unfortunately it’s still not possible for members of the public to attend council meetings but please feel free to write to the town clerk if there are any issues you would like to raise at the meetings.”
