A VILE abuser sent his ex partner 300 threatening messages, despite having two court orders barring him from doing so.

Peter Kerr descended into a campaign of rage against the mother of his children for moving on with her life after he had abused her.

The 31-year-old of Bridgewater Drive, Westcliff, had been given a non-molestation order by the family court, and a restraining order by the magistrates court in August and September last year to stop him contacting the woman.

Yet despite this, Kerr sent threats to kill and other abuse to the woman in the 300 messages sent between August and December, including obscene swear words and terms such as “I’m going to ruin your life” and threatened to damage her door.

When police interviewed him about the messages, Kerr claimed his phone had been stolen and someone else sent them, but this was a lie.

Kerr initially denied several offences including making threats to kill, sending messages to cause distress and breaching his court orders.

However, this year while on remand in prison on May 5, Kerr got hold of a forbidden mobile phone and called the woman, asking about his children, but then quickly going on to threaten her and her new partner.

At one point, he claimed there was “£20,000 on her head”.

The woman reported the calls to the police and he was found to have the contraband phone and was further charged with harassment.

He admitted all of his crimes earlier this month and was jailed at Basildon Crown Court yesterday.

Mitigating, Callum Munday said: “He has been suspended from the army and lost the accommodation that came with that.

“He is ashamed and embarrassed at his actions.

“His primary consideration throughout all of these always has been for the safety of his children.

“He feels broken and anguished, that has led to these offences, and alcohol, which added fuel to an already explosive situation.”

Judge Samantha Cohen told Kerr: “You found yourself completely unable to accept your wife doesn’t want to contact you.

“You wanted to make her life miserable and punish her for moving on with her life without you.” Kerr was jailed for 41 months.
