Pictures have been released showing the damaged caused by a huge fire at a yard with units storing fireworks.
The teams rushed to the fire in Romford Road, Aveley on Tuesday night at 9.36pm. Six fire engines and a number of specialist fire engines, including a water bowser, hose layer and high volume pump, were called to assist at the scene of the fire.
Firefighters reported that the yard had around 40 containers, at least 10 were involved in the fire and a number of them contained fireworks. Two crews were at the scene turning over the debris and damping down hot spots at 5pm yesterday.
Station Manager Tim Rickard said: “This has been a long and difficult incident, but we have had brilliant support from a number of other emergency services and agencies.” The initial findings show the cause is unknown.
