TWO men are being sought by police after a woman was punched so hard she fell unconscious at a petrol station.

Essex Police want to speak to the two men pictured in connection with the attack which happened at the Texaco petrol station, in Southchurch Road, Southend.

The female victim was reportedly punched and then fell to the ground where she was left unconscious.

A spokesman for Essex Police said they believe the woman’s attackers left and walked in the direction of Brighton Avenue.

The incident took place at about on Sunday, July 5.

Police are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time who may have seen something or has any dash-cam or CCTV footage.

Independent councillor Ian Shead, of Southchurch Ward, said: “It’s awful what’s happened to her, it really is.

“The summer is hot, people have got freedom, a lot of people are not going to work, most are furloughed, there’s obviously an element of boredom.”

Residents reacted in horror at the news.

Eve Murfitt wrote on Facebook: “No decent man hits a woman or vice versa, I hope the lady is safe.”

John Roy said: “A few more seconds of unconsciousness and we would be looking at a far worse picture.”
