Food-shoppers were left without their online deliveries after a serious police incident in Southend.

The incident, which took place Thursday night, saw one man injured near to the Odeon cinema near London Road with another also discovered injured near to College Way at around 11.30pm.

Both men remain in hospital – one with life-changing injuries while the other remains in a critical condition.

Officers have been carrying out extensive enquiries since the incident took place and yesterday made a fourth arrest in connection with the incident.

The road was cordoned off until the following morning, leaving Sainsbury's delivery trucks unable to leave the nearby store and drop off online orders.

A spokesperson from Sainsbury's said: "Due to an incident on Thursday evening we were temporarily unable to deliver online orders from the London Road Southend store.

"All affected customers have been contacted and offered alternative options.”
