PARTS of Braintree have been added to a map showing the areas worst affected by coronavirus.

Data released by Public Health England at 4pm today (Friday, October 9) shows there have now been 661 cases of coronavirus recorded in the region.

The online map, which is part of the Government’s coronavirus data dashboard, shows where positive cases have been in recent days divided into areas.

It is based on pillar 1 and pillar 2 testing data from Public Health England and covers the period of September 29 to October 5.

Central Braintree has now been highlighted on the map, with four cases reported in that period.

Braintree West and Rayne is also now marked up, with six cases recorded.

The Notley area remains the worst affected, with eight cases.

Coggeshall and Kelvedon - 7

Braintree West and Rayne - 6

Witham Town -6

Steeple Bumpstead and Great Yeldham - 6

Panfield, Finchingfield and Bardfield - 5

All other areas in the district which have not been highlighted had between two and zero cases recorded between September 29 and October 5.

During that period, the Flitch Green, Felsted and High Easter region has had nine cases reported.

As of yesterday, the infection rate in the Braintree district was 26.2 cases per 100,000 people, according to Essex County Council's coronavirus dashboard.

That is the lowest in Essex, with the county's average infection rate at 44.

A total of 81 coronavirus cases have been recorded in the Braintree district between September 25 and October 8.
