Three women involved in a bank loan scam will have to pay back just £10 each.
Cody Woodward, 25, of Ulysses Road, Oakhurst, Michelle Robertson, 52, of Burbage Road, Penhill, and Suzanne Young, 54, of Thorney Park, were ruled to have made £8,200, £3,000 and £3,000 respectively from the con run by fraudster Daniel Robertson.
But a Swindon Crown Court judge this week ruled the three women only had a nominal £10 available with which to reimburse the state under Proceeds of Crime Act rules.
A fourth defendant, Holly Ayres, 27, of Thorney Park, made £2,000 from the fraud and was ordered to pay back £1,000. The court heard she would have to sell her horses in order to raise the sum.
Daniel Robertson, who is currently serving a four year and one month sentence for leading the £200,000 loan applications scam, also faces proceeds of crime proceedings. His case was adjourned to December 16.
The 30-year-old made almost 200 applications to a raft of banks and building societies. He stole others’ identities, doctored documents and made applications in false names – including “Daniel A***hole”.
He roped in family members and friends, who let him use their bank accounts to launder cash, set up accounts in their name or put their name to dodgy loan applications.
