A chippy dubbed legendary has been forced to shut after being hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
Oban Road Fish Shop, Oban Road, Southend closed its doors for the final time last night.
Bosses say they had no choice after the impact of the virus on trade.
They put a notice in the window saying: "Unfortunately due to the pandemic and subsequent impact on trade, we will be closing our doors for good. Our last day will be November 21.
"We would like to thank all our customers, friends and supporters we have made over the last five years."
Labour Kursaal councillor Matt Dent took to Facebook in support of the business.
He said: "Horrible that tonight was the last night of legendary Kursaal ward chippy, Oban Road Fish Shop. So many brilliant Southend businesses won't survive this pandemic. We need to do everything we can up support local business."
