WHILE numerous businesses across the country are struggling to make ends meet during the coronavirus pandemic, a family business is continuing to thrive in Leigh.

Brian Maczka and his son Sam run Dream Doors Southend – a kitchen makeover showroom – alongside nephew Joe Pilbrow, who has been employed as the company’s operations manager.

With more than 50 years of building experience between them, they are keeping it in the family as they battle through a year like no other.

Some families feel it would be impossible to pull together in a working environment, but Sam insists it gives Dream Doors Southend a unique selling point which appeals to customers.

He said: “My dad has worked in construction for over 20 years and I’ve worked with him for a lot of that time.

“Between all of us, we have at least 50 years of construction experience.

“Working as a family is great and our customers seem to prefer working with a family rather than some anonymous high street brand.

“We all get on well and we have a laugh together as we work.”

Dream Doors is the nation’s leading kitchen makeover company, specialising in replacing doors, drawers and worktops.

The company also offers full kitchen refits and has close to 100 showrooms across the country.

Dream Doors was purchased by Neighbourly, the world’s largest home services franchiser, last year.

The trio are overseeing the success at the showroom on London Road, Leigh.

While the coronavirus pandemic has resulted in numerous businesses across the country going bust and a second national lockdown was put in place earlier this month, it has not stopped the close-knit family.

Sam added: “We’re still really busy, despite everything that’s happening with the Covid lockdown.

“We’re still booking home appointments and observing strict Covid-safe working practices.

“Our customers seem to really love the service that we offer and the fact that refacing, rather than replacing, kitchens is more sustainable.”
