Nearby residents have been warned to be prepared, with minor flooding to low lying land, roads and riverside areas being likely over the next few hours and into this afternoon (Friday December 4).

River levels are currently high and rising, following the overnight rainfall, and are expected to start to drop back down to more normal levels later on.

And it is likely that more warning messages may be issued for the wider area over the next few hours.

The forecast predicts further light rainfall this morning and through Saturday (December 5).

Government officials say they are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary, and no later than 3pm today.

Take care on riverside footpaths, and don't put yourself in unnecessary danger.
