THE Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice as South Essex is hit by an icy blast which could even to snow at the weekend.
The Met Office warning is in place until 10am tomorrow (Friday).
Overnight temperatures will also hover around freezing further south in England, with London expected to drop to 1C (34F) and parts of the South East reaching an icy minus 2C (28F).
A spokesman said: "Rain, sleet and snow dying out, leaving a risk of icy surfaces and difficult travel conditions."
What to expect
- Some injuries from slips and falls on icy surfaces
- Probably some icy patches on some untreated roads, pavements and cycle paths
It comes after Essex Weather Forecasting Centre warned of a risk of snow at the weekend.
Chance of disruptive snow across large parts of the country on Saturday, including here in Essex. However, it will be a snow to rain event for us with temperatures gradually rising through the day. Uncertainty remains, keep up to date with Met Office warnings.
