A MAN will appear in court today following a disturbance in Benfleet.
Police confirmed why the heavy police presence was needed at the scene.
Mr Payne was arrested at the scene.

A spokesman from Essex Police, said: "We were called to reports of a disturbance in Kingsmere, Benfleet, at about 1.45pm on Saturday 27 February.
"James Payne, 47, of Kingsmere, Benfleet, was arrested and later charged with two counts of common assault and one of using threatening or abusive words or behaviour.
"He is due to appear at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court today, Monday 1 March."
