Council bosses have apologised to residents impacted by today's bin lorry fire.
The blaze saw mounds of waste inside a dustcart dumped in Clarence Road, Rayleigh, this morning.
Fire crews from Rayleigh Weir and Leigh were called to tackle the fire.
The bin lorry was said to be "heavily smoke logged" when firefighters arrived at 10.30am.
They helped remove the waste inside the lorry before extinguishing the blaze.
Waste collectors have spent the day sweeping up and removing the rubbish.
But it has inevitably led to delays to some waste collection services in Rayleigh.
There were a number of roads in Rayleigh that did not have their compostable collection today due to a vehicle fire. The advice is to leave your bin out and we will collect your bin as soon as possible.
