Estate agents Hilbery Chaplin is collecting donations for foodbanks at four High Street locations - including the Laindon branch.

The week-long campaign, running from March 8, is to support the foodbank operated by the Trussell Trust in Basildon.

Mr Paul Wood, Laindon branch manager, is so keen he's kicked off the campaign early at his estate agents in High Road, Laindon.

He said: "At Hibery Chaplin we really do see ourselves as part of the local communities we are so proud to serve and have already collected over 20 items of food for the Basildon Trussell Trust foodbank just from our Laindon branch alone.

"We all embrace the stated objective of the Trussell Trust to provide emergency food and support to people locked in poverty and want to do our little bit to demonstrate that objective in a very practical way locally."

Specific items are listed as preferred donations including tinned goods, pasta, toiletries and other non-perishable foods.

The donation drive is also taking place at Hilbery Chaplin in Shenfield, Hornchurch and Romford.

Interested donors can drop off items at their nearest branch or arrange a pick-up by contacting their local Hilbery Chaplin office. Call 01268 416661 for the Laindon office.

The campaign is being run in association with the estate agents charity Agents Giving and the industry's networking organisation Relocation Agent Network.
