A DRUG dealer from Southend has been jailed after officers discovered “deal bags of cocaine” in a car following a crash.

Klevis Gjonaj, of Honiton Road, Southend, has been sentenced to two years and nine months in prison.

This is after Gjonaj pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession of cannabis.

Gjonaj was driving along Devonshire Road, in Cambridge, on November 1, in his black BMW 1 Series when he collided with a Ford Focus.

Police were called to the crash after Gjonaj failed to share his details.

Further checks then later revealed his BMW was linked to drug dealing in the city.

The Southend man had £470 in cash in his hoodie and was carrying two mobile phones he claimed belong to a friend.

Officers also found seven deal bags of cocaine in the car following the crash.

At Huntingdon Law Courts on Friday, Gjonaj was sentenced to two years and nine months in prison after previously pleading guilty to possession with intent to supply cocaine and possession of cannabis.

Det Con Ben Smith, who investigated the incident, said: “Gjonaj’s reluctance to hand over his details combined with the intelligence held on our systems led to him being searched and arrested.

“We are committed to putting those who deal drugs in our county before the courts.”
