NEW food hygiene ratings have been awarded to ten south Essex establishments; the Food Standards Agency’s website shows.

The scheme gives businesses a rating from five to zero, with five being hygiene standards are very good, and zero being urgent improvement is required.

Here are the establishments in south Essex that have been awarded a new hygiene rating:

Southend:

Alex Public House at The Alexandra, 53 Alexandra Street, Southend was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on February 26.

Switch at 21 - 23 Queens Road, Southend was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 19.

Ye Olde Smack at Smack Inn - Punch Pub Company Ltd, 7 High Street, Leigh was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 4.

Domino's Pizza at 78 - 80 Ness Road, Shoebury was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 6.

Castle Point:

Plant Faced Coffee Shop at 281 London Road, Hadleigh was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 20.

TRSC Cafe at Recreation Ground, Common Lane, Thundersley was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 16.

Run Rooster Benfleet at 198 High Road, South Benfleet was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 13.

Gallo D'oro at 89 High Street, Hadleigh was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 6.

Canvey Island Conservative Club at 59 Long Road, Canvey was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 19.

Canvey Island FC Burger Bar at Canvey Island Football Club, Park Lane, Canvey was handed a five-out-of-five rating after assessment on March 14.
