THE Wrexham AFC star taking over the running of a popular country pub and restaurant hopes to host a promotion party there!
Home-grown star Jordan Davies has taken on the running of the Croes Howell, in partnership with Richard Watkin - who runs The Fat Boar pubs in Wrexham and Mold.
The venue, situated on Straight Mile between Llay and Rossett, closed its doors in November of last year.
Speaking to The Leader, Jordan said: "Living local to the Croes Howell, I heard a bit of talk that Rich from the Fat Boar was taking it on. He said it wasn’t the case, so I said if you do fancy it I'd love to be a part of it - and it just took off from there. We've formed a great partnership.
"It would have been a big shame for the area if the Croes Howell remained shut, and we're delighted to be able to breathe new life into it."
Talking about what people can expect, the 25-year-old said: "I'd say it will have a general, traditional style in terms of the menu. There is of course The Fat Boar connection, but we also want some of our own identity, and my vision.
"We just want it to be a place for all ages with a nice, warm atmosphere where parents can bring their kids and have a drink."
The Coedpoeth-born midfielder recently appealed on social media for suggestions regarding a new name for the venue. "The name is till up in the air," he said. "We had some wonderful suggestions, with a few people saying it should go back to being called The Mount Pleasant, and some saying we should leave as the Croes Howell.
"We’ve got a massive list of suggestions, so not sure if it was a help or hinderance! We’d like the name to connect with local area in some way, whether that be to do with its location, or the football club."

Talking about any refurbishments that are taking place, Jordan said: "There wasn’t any drastic changes needed at all. The outside needed a bit of glow up, and we're brightening it up inside.
"There's no firm opening date yet, we're waiting on alcohol licences to go through but we'll be ready for whenever we get the OK to."
In a nod to the club's star co-owners, Jordan added: "Ryan and Rob have been brilliant in helping the lads with businesses away from football. I hope when they're both in town they can come for a meal.
"Not wanting to get ahead of myself, but it'd be wonderful if we could host a promotion party to celebrate with the fans."
