A 26-year-old man from Kidderminster will appear at crown court charged with a spate of burglaries at town centre takeaways.

Shane Hodgkins, of Shrawley Avenue, has been charged with nine counts of burglary.

He was arrested on Wednesday and appeared at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court yesterday (Thursday May 2).

The case was sent to Worcester Crown Court, where Hodgkins will appear on May 30 for a plea and trial preparation hearing.

He has been remanded in custody.

Hodgkins is charged with nine counts of burglary in relation to theft from the town’s Ruby Chinese takeaway, Kin Yip Chinese takeaway, Fortune Chinese takeaway, Angel Nails, Foley's Fish Bar, Habberley Club, Lai's Garden Chinese takeaway, Vantage Pharmacy and Goodness Gracious CBD shop.

Court documents state he stole cash from the till at Ruby Chinese, £100 from the till at Lai's garden, a till from Vantage Pharmacy containing £100, cash of unknown value from a membership tub at Habberley Social Club, a money box with £120 inside from Kin Yip Takeaway, the till and cash float and 66 vapes to the value of £440 from Goodness Gracious Vape Shop, cash between £300 and £400 from Fortune Chinese Takeway, cans of pop and a £30 till float from Foleys Fish Bar and £50 cash from Angels Nails.
