Before stories and pictures of Southend bandstand, now sited in Priory Park, finally hit the back pages, does anyone remember a bandstand in Chalkwell Park?
I remember as a small child, pre the Second World War, this lovely open-air music chamber in the back field where there is now a small children’s play area with swings etc...
I don’t know if the bandstand was permanent or just there for carnivals or other pre-war festivals.
I saw it at least a couple of times, but no bands playing.
