THE stars above many cribs will shine this year for little Angelina Vidler, of Shoebury, who died in July at the age of five and a half.

During her short life, she inspired many people, including members of Shoebury-based amdram company Actorcrats.

Although Angelina is gone, the fundraising in her name continues in many forms, including the Actorcrats’ Christmas panto.

Proceeds from the opening night will be donated to a new project at Great Ormond Street Hospital. The funding will help to transform the London hospital’s ability to develop safer and more effective new treatments for children with cancer, including Wilm’s Tumour, the form of kidney cancer that afflicted Angelina. Stage-struck Angelina would probably have appreciated this gesture. In January 2007 her big wish came true when she was given the rare privilege of joining Royal Ballet ballerinas on stage at Covent Garden.

Actorcrats are best known for blood-curdling productions of Gothic horrors such as Frankenstein. Cinderella, however, will be played as a traditional pantomime.

CINDERELLA is on from tomorrow until Saturday at the Friars Community Centre, The Renown, Shoebury. Performances start at 8pm. Tickets are £4-£5. Call 01702 306506.
