DARLINGTON held coaching for children this week during the half-term school holiday, with manager Tommy Wright helping relaunch the club’s Football in the Community scheme.

For boys and girls aged five to 11 years old, the soccer camps at the Dolphin Centre catered for all abilities and around 50 children attended on each of the five days.

Craig Morley, Quakers’ commercial director, said: “It is something we had contemplated doing for a while.

“After what’s been a seven or eight-year gap, this is what we want to do now, to engage with the community, to engage with the next generation of fans.

“This is what this club is about, getting among the community and promoting the club.”

As well as Wright, who took part in drills on Wednesday, assistant manager Alan White and forward Stephen Thompson also coached the kids on different days.
