AN eight-year-old schoolboy has landed a role as a munchkin in the West End version of the Wizard of Oz.
When Jamie Davies, of The Fairway, Leigh, finishes school today he will head for London to make his debut at the Royal Festival Hall.
His mum Tereza said: “He was over the moon, not over the rainbow, when he found out he was chosen for the part.
“He was put forward by his London agent, and as well as performing some gymnastics during the audition, he has quite a stage presence, which I think helped.”
Jamie has been a pupil at the Vanda Morgan Academy of Performing Arts, in Westcliff, since he was three.
His proud mum added: “He followed his sister Holly, ten – who has just finished performing in Fiddler on the Roof at the Savoy Theatre – into the local stage school and has been performing ever since.
“But we must also thank his school, Fairways Primary School, who have given him so much support.”
