A GROUP of people gave chase after two teenagers stole a bike from a 12-year-old boy.

A police helicopter hovered over Leigh railway station at 2.40pm yesterday after the boy was threatened by two teenagers, who made off with his bike.

A group of passers-by set off in hot pursuit along the railway line and managed to recover the bike, but the two males made their getaway.

The suspects were both white and aged between 18 and 19 years.

The first had no top on and was wearing a baseball cap.

The second was 5ft 6ins and dressed in a striped top and jeans.
