A NEW traders’ group has joined forces with Essex Police and Castle Point Council to improve its estate.

The Manor Trading Estate Association recently met senior police officers and councillors in the Castle Point council chamber to discuss ways to improve security and infrastructure at the estate, off Armstrong Road, Benfleet.

Forty-six of the Manor estate’s 61 business have joined the association, which has been set up by Paul Lewis, managing director of logistics firm Response.

He has been working since November to draw fellow traders together into the partnership and get other bodies involved.

He said: “Our main aims are to improve the estate and its security and with the help of the council, improve the look of the estate in order to make it a better place to do business.”

Mr Lewis reckons about 1,000 people work on the estate.

He says he is pleased with how the meeting went.

He added: “The meeting went very well. The council regards us as an important asset when it comes to employment.”
