RESIDENTS fighting plans for a huge waste plant in Basildon are urged to make their feelings known at a meeting on Friday.

Essex County Council’s development and regulation committee will vote over plans for a mechanical biological treatment and recycling complex in Courtauld Road, Basildon.

The meeting is open to the public and some there may be invited to address councillors before they vote on the plan.

The Echo, which launched a Don’t Dump on Basildon campaign to fight the plans, has e-mailed the councillors on the committee urging them to vote against the joint county council and Integra Developments proposals. More than 5,000 residents have backed our campaign.

Campaigner Rob Hill, of Davenants, Basildon has asked to speak at the meeting.

He said: “My main objections will be that the council is ignoring public opinion and that the consultations engineered the answers they wanted from an unaware public by frightening it.”

The meeting is in committee room one at County Hall, Chelmsford and starts at 10am.
