A DELIVERY driver faces jail after admitting being part of a gang which stole thousands of pounds from a Securicor van.

At Basildon Crown Court, Danny Brooks, 29, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to steal cash at Tesco Extra, Pitsea, on July 4 last year.

At an earlier hearing, is co-defendants Matthew McMahon, 21, and Dean Olley, 31, admitted the same charge.

Olley also admitted possessing £18,000 of criminal property.

Judge Rupert Overbury adjourned the case for a probation report.

He warned Brooks: “You, like your co-defendants, pleaded guilty to an extremely serious charge of conspiracy to steal.

“Although not the most serious charge on the indictment it is still one which, inevitably, attracts a prison sentence.”

Brooks was bailed on condition that his mother commits to a £25,000 surety, he observes a curfew from 8pm to 6am, he does not contact his co-defendants and he lives in Grays.

He must also report daily to Grays police station.

Brooks of Elan Road, South Ockendon, Olley of Carnach Gardens, South Ockendon, and McMahon of Feenan Highway, Tilbury, will reappear for sentencing on Thursday, September 25.
