A STRIKE by Argos workers at a Basildon distribution centre has been called off after managment put forward a revised pay offer.

Workers at the centre in Miles Grey Road were set to stage another walkout today after Unite members rejected a below inflation pay rise and plans to switch them from weekly to monthly salaries.

The industrial action was set to escalate to a four day strike the following Thursday, July 31 but the action is now on hold following the revised deal.

Union committees are set to scrutinise the offer at a committee meeting on Friday and a further ballot will be held next week.

More than 350 Unite members walked out last Thursday, July 17 in protest at the offer.
