BASILDON Council’s battle to evict travellers from illegal sites goes back to court in December.

The council has been given a Court of Appeal date of December 5 to challenge the High Court ruling in May which quashed its earlier decision to evict travellers from Dale Farm, Crays Hill, and Hovefields, Wickford.

If it wins it will be free to carry out the evictions. It is also seeking to take its eviction decisions again, which judge Mr Justice Andrew Collins ruled were flawed in May.

Council leader Malcolm Buckley says the authority will take into account what the judge said needed to be done to make them valid, before taking the decisions again.
