LEGO fanatics from across Essex are being invited to show off their model building skills in a charity competition in aid of Little Havens children’s hospices.

The Cliffs Pavilion, Westcliff, will host the competition on January 3, which has been organised by grandmother Maggie Tuttle, of Poynings Avenue, Southend.

The first prize of £200 has been donated by her grandchildren James, seven, and Scarlett, 13, who live in Raphael Avenue, Tilbury.

They decided to give the winner money their gran gives them at Christmas, after hearing about the work the hospice does for terminally ill children and their families.

The Lego competition is for children aged between six and ten and judges will include Southend mayor Gwen Horrigan. Contestants in the competition will have two hours to build their best creation.

Each entry costs £2.50 with all proceeds going to Little Havens.

Competitors need to bring their own bricks to build with.

Entry forms for the competition can be downloaded from www.snowythepolarbear.com with details of how to pay and where to send the completed forms.

All entries must be received by December 22.
