SIX people had to be rescued from a lift at a health centre.
Firefighters from Hadleigh were called in when the lift came to a halt at the Tyrells health centre in Seamore Avenue, Benfleet.
The lift, meant to be used by just four people, became overloaded when six people got in. Those in the lift were trapped for around 20 minutes before being rescued.
Leading firefighter Steve Kirkham from blue watch said: “We provided reassurance for those trapped inside and managed to open the lift doors. Everyone was ok apart from being a little upset.”
The incident happened at midday.
