A GROUP of cyclists is limbering up for a gruelling ride to Paris as they set out to raise £15,000 for two charities.
Backed by a four-strong support crew, 16 riders from across south Essex will head for the Channel from London, on Thursday.
Raising money for Macmillan Cancer Relief and the National Autistic Society, the cyclists will cover 270 miles in four days, visiting Calais, Abbeville, and Beauvais, before finishing under the Eiffel Tower.
Cyclist Dave Argent, 42, of Chafford Hundred, said: “There are a few of us who ride together and we decided we should do a trip a bit further afield, so this ride is perfect.”
Named the Bull Bicycle Club after their favourite pub in Grays, the team will be setting off in matching kit sponsored by Leigh-based accountancy firm Segrave.
Segrave partner Greg Short said: “We’ve also donated some money. It’s a great challenge for them, in aid of two great causes.”
